About Me
My name is Mina Hanna. I'm majoring in Computer Science, currently at California State University Long Beach. I've always had an interest in software development and I'm determined to enhance my skills to make meaningful contributions to various projects.
Throughout my journey, I've been involved in both projects and community engagement. This has given me an approach to solving real-world challenges. One particular project that stands out is my research on Unity Programming for VR Avatar Control at California State University under the guidance of Dr. Jim Miles. This experience has allowed me to develop control systems for individuals with physical disabilities. Using Unity and C#, I have successfully created hand tracking programs that enhance interactions within virtual reality environments. Through feedback-driven improvements, this project has not only sharpened my programming skills but also deepened my understanding of user-centric design.
Beyond the classroom, my volunteer work with STEMup4Youth at Huntington Beach High School showcases my desire to support the community. By tutoring students and organizing science fairs, I have helped create a learning environment for over 300 students in underserved areas while igniting their interest in STEM subjects. Overall, my diverse project experiences coupled with community involvement demonstrate my commitment to growth and making a positive impact through technology.
I have been working on projects that have helped me enhance my skills, such as creating a user-friendly Clock app using Kotlin and exploring game design and programming at the University of California Los Angeles Game Lab Summer Institute. Along with that, I have a foundation in languages like Python, C++, SQL, and technologies like Git and MongoDB, which prepare me for real-world software development challenges.
When I'm not coding or doing community work, I enjoy engaging in activities like swimming, hiking, and biking. These hobbies keep me active and bring a fresh perspective to my software development creativity. As I continue on this journey, I am excited to learn more and make contributions to impactful projects. With my background, hands-on project experiences, and community involvement, I believe that I am a well-rounded individual ready to thrive in the exciting field of software engineering.
